On October 19, the innovative auditory brainstem implant product independently filed by Zhejiang Nurotron Neuroelectronic Technology Co., Ltd. officially received registration approval from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).
The product consists of a stimulator, receiving coil, intracranial electrode array, extradural plate electrode, extradural ring electrode, and internal magnet. It is used in conjunction with the cochlear implant speech processor produced by the company. After decoding the digital information from the external speech processor, it converts it into current pulses that directly excite the auditory centers on the cochlear nucleus through the electrode array, thereby helping users rebuild hearing. It is indicated for prelingually deaf patients aged 2-6 years (excluding those aged 6) with non-tumor-related non-syndromic deafness complicated by severe inner ear malformations (Michel deformity, common cavity, cochlear aplasia or severe cochlear hypoplasia CH-1) or cochlear nerve aplasia who are unable to undergo cochlear implantation.
This product is China's first auditory brainstem implant (ABI) and also the country's first product to perform electrical stimulation and neural signal extraction in the brainstem region, filling the gap in the ABI field in China.
Efung Capital participated in Nurotron's financing in 2016. At that time, the cochlear implant market was still dominated by imported brands, and auditory brainstem implants (ABI) were in the deep waters of R&D. Efung firmly believed in Nurotron's underlying technological barriers and independent innovation capabilities in the field of neurostimulation, and used long-term capital to accompany the company through its R&D cycle, helping more patients with hearing impairment and even neurological dysfunction regain "new sound" and a new life.
