On August 5, 2026, the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) issued an announcement officially approving the market launch applications for the "Cardiac Pulsed Field Ablation Generator" and the "Single-Use Cardiac Pulsed Field Ablation Catheter," independently developed by Northchip Medical, a subsidiary of Shenzhen Northchip Life Technology Co., Ltd. ("Northchip Life"), under the trade name LotosPFA®. This marks the official entry of PFA into a new era of "routine local anesthesia."
The system is the world's first pulsed field ablation (PFA) system validated through a randomized controlled trial (RCT) that supports ablation performed entirely under local anesthesia throughout the entire procedure. It is also the only Chinese PFA product included in the joint scientific statement issued by the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) and the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) this February.
According to disclosures by Northchip Life and information published by the NMPA, the LotosPFA® system is purposefully designed to address the clinical needs of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation ablation, achieving multiple breakthroughs in its technological approach to deliver more precise, more efficient, and safer atrial fibrillation ablation.
Frontier Capital participated in Northchip Life's financing round in 2020. Looking ahead, Frontier Capital will continue to adhere to the core principle of "addressing unmet clinical needs," supporting Northchip Life in accelerating the clinical promotion and commercial adoption of the LotosPFA® system. It will help drive the expansion of China-originated PFA solutions—defined by "precision, efficiency, and safety"—to benefit more patients, while backing more Chinese enterprises with disruptive innovation capabilities like Northchip Life to achieve the leap from "running alongside" to "leading" in the global high-end medical equipment arena.
